This is a statement all of us have uttered at some point in our lives, but is it really all we want, and if so, why?
Well, it has been observed that living creatures feel the most at home close to the point of their origin. In our case, the moment before conception -after which, we haven't had a moment of "no-time" up through this very day.
The introduction of a disturbance to a substrate in a state of rest, creates in it's simplest form, Movement. This movement is the beginning of a process that has a beginning, a culmination, and a decline back towards a state of rest.
What develops and is experienced in between is the process of life.
In order to stay alive, we require constant stimulation (a median form of disturbance to the balance of things) that drives us to solve problems, learn new skills and expand our horizons.
Over-stimulation leads to burnout and collapse, while under-stimulation leads to procrastination, stagnancy, and malaise.
So, peace is the reference point or baseline, that we uphold as the paradigm of things going back to a state of balance, but it is the persuit of peace amidst disturbance that imbues our lives with meaning.
The trophy aspired to, but best left unclaimed.
